WATERWHEEL FALLS 1978
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
After 2 years of severe drought the winter of 1978 brought one of the top
20 snowpacks to the Sierra Nevada since 1880. These photos were taken in
the middle of a big mid June warm up. The bridges and their approaches
that cross the Tuolumne River on the way to Glen Aulin had up to a foot of
water flowing over them!

If these bridges didn't
have hand railings we
would have been in toast.

The power of the

WATERWHEEL FALLS
Perhaps not a true
waterfall in a shear
vertical sense but
unsurpassed in it's
unique, majestic beauty.

Great care had to be taken
near the river due to wet and
very slippery conditions.
